چکیده

The guided spline approach to surface construction separates surface design and surface representation by constructing local guide surfaces and sampling these by splines of moderate degree. This paper explains a construction based on tessellating the domain into V-shaped regions so that the resulting C surfaces have G transitions across the boundaries of the V-shapes and consist of tensor-product splines of degree (6,6) with patches of degree (4,4) forming a central cap.

Semi-uniform, 2-Different Tessellation of Triangular Parametric Surfaces

With a greater number of real-time graphics applications moving over to parametric surfaces from the polygonal domain, there is an inherent need to address various rendering bottlenecks that could hamper the move. Scaling the polygon count over various hardware platforms becomes an important factor. Much control is needed over the tessellation levels, either imposed by the hardware limitations ...

Adaptive Tessellation of NURBS Surfaces

NURBS surfaces are widely used in computer graphics, due to their great accuracy of design and reduced amount of data needed for representation. For real-time visualization, tessellation algorithms are needed, as they make use of the actual graphics hardware through the conversion of surfaces to triangle meshes. The existent algorithms for tessellation are only partially adaptive because the te...

High Quality Realtime Tessellation of Trimmed NURBS Surfaces for Interactive Examination of Surface Quality on Car Bodies

Virtual interactive examination of the quality of car body surfaces is an important issue in the development process of a car. The method is based on simulating reflection lines using striped environment maps and strong specular highlights. For this purpose high quality meshes are created from the NURBS surfaces. However, the meshes have a fixed resolution, hence a closer examination requires a...

Kernel modeling for molecular surfaces using a uniform solution

In this paper, a rational Bézier surface is proposed as a uniform approach to modeling all three types of molecular surfaces (MS): the van der Waals surface (vdWS), solvent accessible surface (SAS) and solvent excluded surface (SES). Each molecular surface can be divided into molecular patches, which can be defined by their boundary arcs. The solution consists of three steps: topology modeling,...
